I’d like you to meet Cole Alexander Dreissig, the little boy who has stolen my heart! He was born April 10 at 4:32pm at 8 pounds, 15 ounces and 20.75″ long. I’ve been meaning to share this exciting news for a few days now, but this hungry little mush has other plans for me. I was scheduled to be induced on 4/11 since I was already over a week late, so I am grateful that he came on his own terms. I went into labor very early that morning and was surprised at how relaxed I was. The last two weeks of my pregnancy, I was constantly on edge because I didn’t know what to expect and I was worried that I wouldn’t know if I was in labor (ha, so naive). Once my water broke early that morning, I felt a huge sense of calm.
I was in labor for about 14 hours but the time went by so quickly. Ryan and I both expected a stark white delivery room with doctors moving around the room quickly and screaming orders but the experience couldn’t have been further from that. (Clearly we watch too many movies.) We only had two people in the room – the nurse midwife and nurse – and they were so positive and empowering I felt like I could have done anything. I could not have asked for a more beautiful delivery and feel so lucky to be the mom of this beautiful, healthy little boy.
April 10, 2014 is the best day of my life.
