up up and away!

Ryan and I took our nephews to see UP in 3d two weeks ago, and I ended up crying like a baby. If you haven’t seen it, I think you need to. It forces you to think about the milestones in your life, and how the decisions we make effect them. Oh, and there are balloons too.

I love the humor in this image of the stubborn homeowner that refuses to leave the development construction!

california dreaming.

The romantic spell of Monique Lhuillier’s LA home mirror her classic designs of fashion, bridal, and housewares. The interiors are subtle and tactile with velvets, silks, leather and suede. I’m loving the interesting neutral colors and how they are layered within the space.  If I could have a crush on a house, I’d have this one scribbled on my notebook with hearts around it. <3

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this patterned rug.

Loving the tone on tone grey in the office with a pop of color from the flowers!

…and these are a few of my favorite things.

I’m always rearranging things. Always. I’m pretty lucky that Ryan doesn’t really care, in fact, I think he secretly enjoys it. As long as I don’t move his keys or wallet from their spot on the kitchen table I’m set.

This little vignette in my living room makes me happy (…for now). I don’t have much storage, so I like to pile my books with special accessories on top. My parents recently gave me a vintage camera that I can remember playing with when I was a little girl. We also recently bought this fan that has the look of being vintage but is safer for our cat and curious nephews little fingers.

We recently went to some garage sales on a unnaturally cool June afternoon and found this gorgeous wooden box for only $5! This would have probably cost nearly $50 at a NY flea market, so this new purchase will leave me satisfied until my next styling rearranging fit.

Another one of my favorite things is this butterfly I framed in a shadowbox frame. Ryan’s mom gave it to me because I’ve been in love with it for the past few years that she’s had it. I secretly want to believe she found it on the farm she grew up on, but she found it in a parking lot. :) Beautiful nonetheless!

still waters.

I’m going camping this upcoming weekend and I’m incredibly excited. I haven’t been camping since I was a girl scout years ago (nerd, I know), so I’m super excited. Any time I can drink beer with family by the campfire and make smores, I’m set. Thom Filicia’s lake house is just a bit fancier than our nylon tent, but these images get me excited to sit and relax by still waters.

my dream bathroom.

So, this past weekend I spent a night at my friends beach house and couldn’t help but dream of the day that I’ll have a vacation house to entertain my friends who have been so kind to me. Sometimes I get so caught up in life and it was great to get together and just be silly and laugh until it hurts. For that, and the dream of someday having a bathroom as gorgeous as this, is enough to make this girl content.

I adore everything about this bathroom. I’ve never been a fan of shower curtains, so I’m loving the simple lines of the floor to ceiling linen shower curtain. The subway tiles (which are a little hard to see in this image) and the penny rounds(!) are classic and make this bathroom a timeless space that are anything but pretentious.
