Muy Caliente

Benjamin Moore just announced their color of the year, Caliente, which is described as  “strong, radiant and full of energy”. It’s a gorgeous color, but I’m not sold on using it to paint an entire room. I love the richness of the hue and would love to use it as an accent like painting a door in the photo below. Benjamin Moore explains the color brings “depth and energy to a space and spiking deep grays with life”. It feels like everything is gray these days, so it’s refreshing to see bolder colors making their way back.
What do you think? Love it or leave it?

Autumn Color Inspiration Collage Board

Fall has always been my favorite time of year for several reasons: I love the smell and crispness of the air, the nostalgia of starting a new school year, the holidays, and simply the beautiful colors of nature changing colors. Personally I am often drawn to neutrals, whether it be for my wardrobe, kitchenware, or interior finishes. The colors of Autumn make me so happy so I’m not exactly sure why I’ve never designed a room completely around deep golden yellows, warm caramels, evergreens or burgundies.

sweet magnolia

Now that the trees are starting to bloom, I love the bright yellow of forsythia, and the huge magnolia trees in my neighborhood. The magnolia’s flowers don’t last very long, but when they’re in full bloom it looks as though the tree is filled with the most beautiful orchids you’ve ever seen.
