Edgewater, NJ Interior Design

Edgewater, NJ Bachelor Pad

If you follow me on facebook, you may have seen these photos I shared of my project in Edgewater a while back.

I worked on this townhouse two years ago right up until I gave birth to my little boy. I was actually finishing up tasks while I was in labor which sounds pretty crazy looking back, but I guess you can say I’m committed to my work. :)

This project was a complete remodel for a busy entrepreneurial bachelor and I am so happy with the outcome. The “before” pictures were from the previous owners listing, but they give you an idea of what a huge transformation happened quickly in a span of about 4 months.

Reality Kitchen

I rarely watch television but when I do find the time, I enjoy this educational documentary called Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Have you heard of it? ;) You either love them or hate them, but I love to see their homes, wardrobes, and makeup. As much as people hate them, you have to admit they are trendsetters. I was watching an episode recently and paid way more attention to Kourtney’s kitchen. I’ve been doing a lot of white kitchens lately (giving the people what they want!) but I really love this light greyish wood with the white counter tops. It’s super modern in comparison to the tumbled flooring and wood beams. Love.

Her old house had some questionable rooms (kitchen included) so I’m loving what she did in her new space. I should be embarassed that I watch trash TV, but whatever inspires me, right?!

Does anyone want to hire me so I can replicate this design for their kitchen?! Anyone?

Brooklyn Brownstone Kitchen

You probably recognize this kitchen from your favorite blogs and/or pinterest from the famous Jenna Lyons Brooklyn brownstone.   I personally have referred back to this home several times, and used this very kitchen as inspiration for current projects. So when I came across this blog post mentioning that the brownstone sold, and the new owners hired Roman and Williams to redesign the spaces I was so surprised! Don’t get me wrong, Roman and Williams is one of my favorite designers… but the spaces were so perfect! I’m not sure which I like better. I love how bright and airy the Jenna Lyons kitchen, but I so admire that every Roman and Williams design screams their name.

Which do you like better? They are both so beautiful! Take a look at Domain to see the other interior photos of the spaces.

Edgewater, NJ Progress

I recently started working on a project in Edgewater, NJ that overlooks NYC and I could not be more excited! I started the project two weeks ago, and the entire townhouse is already demoed and we have the majority of the finishes chosen. It’s so much fun to see results so quickly! So far the most drastic change is this kitchen. Take a deep breath and check out the neon lit back splash. If the lights and the orange veneered cabinets don’t scream the 90’s, I don’t know what does. (Well, I guess side tied tee-shirts and big hair do, too. But that’s besides the point…)

Doesn’t it already look better?! In the kitchen we’re doing ivory cabinets, a mushroom counter top and a glass mosaic back splash. We’re also replacing the wood floors throughout the entire house and went with a grayish brown wood (below) with a matte finish so my client’s puppies don’t scratch the finish. My client loves earth tones so my goal was to create a space that is modern but also warm and inviting.  Since the kitchen and adjacent family room overlook the George Washington Bridge and a view of the city,  it’s important that this space make a big impact since this is where everyone will hang out. The kitchen should be installed the week I have baby Dreissig, so I suppose it gives me one more thing to be excited about this coming April. :)

Long Beach Island Project Progress

Last year I was brought on to help design the kitchen and bathrooms for this charming bungalow on Long Beach Island, NJ. Aside from the fact that my client is amazing, I was excited to work in an area of the Jersey Shore that holds a special place in my heart. When I was younger I often vacationed in Beach Haven, an area of LBI, with family friends. I knew the area well and knew I needed to be a part of this!

Even though Hurricane Sandy did a number on the island in October 2012, my client’s house managed to suffer little damage. The project schedule was severely delayed since so many homes on the island needed much more serious work. After many months of patiently waiting, demolition started this month and my client and I are in the midst of designing!  Progress is a beautiful thing!

Below is the inspiration for the kitchen. We want a modern look while maintaining the beachy style of the bungalow. Wood flooring will be continuous through the first floor, we’ll install white inset cabinetry with glass upper cabinets, and install bead board on the ceiling. Does it really get any better than that?!
