smart window coverings

As much as I think I’m tech savvy, something new and exciting is always coming out! This window film by Sonte can be applied to your windows and go from transparent to opaque in a second thanks to your smart phone. How crazy is that?! This product is perfect for almost any room, and can even be used as a backdrop for a TV projector. For about about a ten square foot section it will cost you about $284 for the film with the smart phone activated strip. Check out their video here on how easy it is to install. phone activated window film

Santa Barbara

After LA, we drove up to Santa Barbara to stay at the Bacara Resort. In November we won a 3 day, 2 night trip to stay here by liking a facebook page as a giveaway on one of my favorite blogs. Can you even believe that? Ryan and I never win anything, but this past year has been particularly lucky for us. This was my favorite part of the trip because it solely was for relaxing and drinking wine. How could you not love that?! When we checked in we had two bottles of Le Grand Courtage champage and a stocked picnic basket from Le Grand Courtage waiting for us to enjoy on the beach. How adorable is that?! Not only did they pay for us to stay at this amazing resort, but they had an adorable, romantic picnic ready for us! After we checked out our room, we basically skipped down to the beach to watch the sunset with a glass of wine in hand.

The following day we went on a private wine tasting tour for our anniversary.  (Our anniversary is beginning to have a theme…) A sommelier drove us around to six vineyards to taste the freshest wine you’ll ever have in your life. Mid-day they set up another picnic overlooking one of the vineyards and it was so incredibly romantic. This was one of my favorite days… maybe ever. I feel so lucky to have been able to experience this with Ryan.

A few months ago Ryan and I watched a movie with our nephews and this was the preview. I can’t remember what it is we were seeing but I just kept thinking of this short film. I came home right away and looked everywhere online to find it to share on my blog, but no such luck. But then the ever inspiring Joanna posted it on her blog this week and it made my day. In the spirit of Valentine’s Day next week, take a few minutes to watch this six minute love story.

what would you do?

Last night Ryan played this video before bed and it started an interesting conversation. If money did not matter and I could do whatever I want I would be doing exactly what I’m doing right now. I feel so blessed to be able to say that. I would love if life moved a little bit slower sometimes, but I guess I can’t be too picky! Although I know Ryan is obsessed with nature, I was surprised that he said he’d like to be a park ranger. Even though we’ve known each other for almost half our life, we still have a lot to learn about each other. :)

John DeFiora Photography - Sandy Disaster ReliefJohn DeFiora Photography

I hope you and your loved ones are safe following the unprecedented devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. In addition to volunteering in local communities I am also extending my trade discounts to victims of Hurricane Sandy that reside in New Jersey. To help reduce the cost of replacing your furniture I will be happy to place orders on your behalf with any retailers that offer trade discounts. During times like this every little bit helps so please do not hesitate to contact me if you’re interested. 100% of my time will be donated and 100% of the trade discount will be passed on to victims of Hurricane Sandy.

After going through Hurricane Irene last year and having family members that lost everything I can relate to the devastation that many families are facing. While cleaning up after Irene we had several volunteers stop by to offer labor, food, water, supplies and shelter. Seeing the community come together after Irene was overwhelming. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced. Other than losing power, my friends and family were fortunately spared by Sandy. This provides me with the opportunity to give back and contribute in any way that I can. In addition to the extension of the trade discounts I am also available if you need assistance in project management or sourcing trustworthy contractors.

Please contact me with any questions you may have.
