Dining Room

One of the most important rooms of the home is the dining room, so give it some style!

Whether you’re entertaining friends or just enjoying a weekday meal with the family, you should design the space so that it’s somewhere people want to stick around. Whenever Ryan and I have dinner parties (though, it’s been a while since having the babe), we always end up sitting around the table for hours drinking wine instead of cozying up on the sofa.

This space in the inspiration photo is spot on. While it features glam elements, it’s still comfortable and spacious. The dark wood-tones keep it grounded, while the monochrome palette creates a classic aesthetic.

optional dining room lighting

Our dining room is a bit still unfinished. And by unfinished, I mean there’s not appropriate lighting and our dining chairs are $10 folding chairs from target. (You can see our dining area¬†here. It’s where the recliner was. That sentence is so scary.)

Since it’s not technically our house, we’re not going to install a pendant in the dining area. Instead I’ve been looking for a table lamp to put on the craigslist buffet Ryan refinished. (Pictures of that to come soon.) I’m trying not to use that ceiling fan hoping people will forget it’s there. I prefer darker spaces for ambiance anyway, but sometimes it’s nice to see the food you’re eating, no?

I normally don’t get excited by lamps, but these west elm options are so beautiful! (option one and two.) I especially love the first one!
