our wedding: the flowers

From the beginning, I was pretty specific with which flowers I wanted for the wedding. When I first met the florist with a handful of inspiration photos, she asked me what I do for a living. When I told her I’m an interior designer her response was short and sweet. “No wonder you’re a pain in the ass.” She was sarcastic and straight to the point and I loved working with her.

The ring bearer dish. Okay, not necessarily a flower but it deserves some love.

sweet magnolia

Now that the trees are starting to bloom, I love the bright yellow of forsythia, and the huge magnolia trees in my neighborhood. The magnolia’s flowers don’t last very long, but when they’re in full bloom it looks as though the tree is filled with the most beautiful orchids you’ve ever seen.

a must read: nonpareil

I’m loving online publications of magazines, and now that I’ve got wedding fever, I’m all over Nonpareil! This isn’t just another pretty magazine with inspiration images, it’s a useful tool when planning your wedding with DIY projects for crafters of all skill levels.

Even if you’re not getting married, these images are an excellent inspiration for dinner parties, too! I love how this setting looks like the dinnerware are a mixup of family heirlooms!

antique colored wedding

A friend recently said that I’ve created a wedding monster! Yipes!  I’ve never, ever been the girl whose been interested in weddings. I didn’t have a dream wedding planned since I had training wheels on my bike. Buuuut, now I can’t stop looking at images of weddings. I love this wedding featured on delight by design with its charming details, and soft color palette. The cake is so perfect with its simplicity and lovely white flowers!

I was tempted to make the title of this post “flower power”, but felt that was too spice girls of me. I haven’t gotten flowers in a while (ahem, Ryan!) but lucky enough my favorites are probably considered filler flowers. I love the simplicity of these vignettes!
