our wedding: us

When you have almost two thousand pictures to look through, it’s hard to pick your favorites. And even after looking through all those pictures, I still feel like the day was such a whirl wind and that that woman in the white dress isn’t even me. Is that crazy? Yes.

Below are some of my favorite photos of just me and Ryan. After the first look, we were fortunate enough to have the rain clear up to take pictures outside.  (I guess I was too stubborn to acknowledge the whole “April showers bring May flowers” bit.) Luckily with the grey skies and a coolness in the air, it made for even better photos.

our wedding: the first look

It’s hard to believe that Ryan and I have almost been married for two months. But I suppose after being together for so long two months just kind of feels that way. I’ve looked through our photographers photos of our wedding more time then I can count, laughing and tearing up at the same photos. This week I’ll be posting photos of my favorite moments from our wedding day.

Since Ryan and I hosted the ceremony and reception at the same location, and since it was pouring the morning of the wedding, we did “first look” photos in the lobby of the hotel where we spent the night. The grand staircase is so beautiful and walking down all those stairs (in 4 inch heels!) built up the anticipation even more. I think the first thing I said to him was, “wow, you’re butt looks so cute in that tux”. Classic me. And it was true. I own that tush now.

thank you

I just got the DVD from our photographer with all our wedding photos this morning, and I couldn’t wait to design our Thank You’s! I’m so happy with the way they came out! They were so easy to make, now I’m even more excited to make a book for our parents. :)

i am someone’s wife. i have a husband!

I don’t even know where to begin. Especially after not writing for two months. When I got engaged, I promised myself that I wouldn’t become one of those girls who only talks about weddings, and I swore I wouldn’t turn this into a wedding blog. But, it happened. I was inspired by every image of flowers or white silk gowns, and forgot to post about my first love… interior design.

A lot has happened in the past few weeks. For one, I got married to Ryan on April 23rd (our eleventh anniversary).  :)  The day went by so quickly, as everyone said it would, but it was so perfect. It was supposed to rain the entire day but just as we went to take wedding photos and head to our outdoor ceremony, the rain stopped and the sun came out. The day was filled with joy, laughter and so much love and made me feel so incredibly lucky.

The week after our ceremony, we went to Mexico for eleven days and ate, slept and drank way too much. I have over 2,000 pictures of all of our adventures and I’m sure I’ll share a few eventually. I’m still getting teased by my besties about how many are on facebook, so I might wait a bit.

My career is seriously better than ever! I’m working part time at a local design firm and doing consulting work for two other amazing designers working from home. I wake up every morning excited to work and feel grateful to have such positive and talented women to work with. I seriously can’t believe my life right now!

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for the past month, we’re listing our condo for sale this week. We’ve lived in this studio for almost 4 years and it’s about time for a change. We may buy a house, or rent a place until we’re ready, but it all depends on how quickly this place sells. I’m hoping there’s a girl out there that gets as emotionally attached as I did!

As you can imagine, my inspiration folders are busting at the digital seams and I have so many goodies to share with you! I’m patiently waiting for photos from our incredibly talented wedding photographer, but have these as a teaser until we get the others! Enjoy!

When I was younger and pretending not to think about my wedding, the only thing I wanted was to have tons of candles flickering around me. I’ve always thought getting married by candle light with be so romantic and intimate. How beautiful is this?

wedding card holder

I purchased one of these lanterns to hold cards at our wedding, and I’m pretty excited about it. I’ve been looking for options other than the faux cake options available online and while I love the birdcage and suitcase ideas, I think that they’re more for a vintage styled wedding. I never decided on a theme per say, but Ryan and I are simple, understated and modern. I thought this lantern was a great option for our venue. I also bought a mini one to put a candle in so the big daddy doesn’t look so out of place. (And we’ll be able to use this again in a future house, unlike those faux cakes!)

I also noticed these lanterns being used here and love the look!
